Llama Fiber is greaseless, strong and very lofty for it's weight. Fortunate in the fleece quality in our herd, we meticulously groom before harvesting fiber, which is quite labor intensive. A fibersmith washes (without chemicals), picks and cards the fiber so it is ready to spin. Our fiber spins beautifully alone or with other natural fibers. Colors are white, champagne, tan, copper, red, chestnut, black, solid or variegated.

Roving
Sheared from llamas with long single coats with minimal or very soft guard hair. One bump weighs approximately 8 to 12 oz., two bumps weigh approximately 16 to 24 oz.

Brushings
The clean undercoat is hand-brushed from double coated llamas of shorter length (3 to 5 inches) and gently washed. Very soft, with no guard hair, ready to spin or felt, solid colors, 8 oz. minimum.

Fiber Quality
Premium Llama "silk" roving - can be worn against the skin.
Superior Roving, may also be worn against the skin, slightly less soft than silk.
Very Good Brushed, washed fiber (not roving) for spinning or felting. Very soft, can be worn against the skin.
Good Roving for outerwear, wall hangings, tapestries or rugs.
